Bio – Estella “Steel” Remington

Steel Remington has always felt the pull of Fortunate Lake. The deep, old magick beneath its surface called to something in her bones long before she knew what she was. Her spark awoke in adolescence, sudden and fierce, and she’s been communing with nature ever since.

Steel is of landvættir ancestry. Though she’s certainly not purebred, she still feels a strong connection to her territory. She guards over it and ensures that it thrives. As long as it’s healthy, so is she. And vice versa. The term “landvættir” comes from Old Norse, but her race is spread all over the world. Wherever Mother Nature rules—which is everywhere—there is meant to be a landvættir who watches over it. This is, sadly, not true everywhere anymore. As careless Normals have taken over and poisoned the land, so have its landvættirs grown ill and even died.

Born and raised in Wyrdwood, Steel studied Forestry at university, balancing ROTC training with a fascination for the natural world. After graduation, she returned home expecting a simple life close to the land. Instead, she inherited solitude. Her parents vanished into another realm when she was twenty, leaving no trace. With no siblings, her only family now is Archibald (Archie for short), her loyal and telepathic pug.

Steel’s relationships have been brief—mostly with Normals who knew nothing about her hidden world. She’s an introvert by nature, comfortable in her remote cottage, more at ease among trees than people. Though she dreams of love and perhaps children someday, she doesn’t chase those dreams.

To survive, she works as a reluctant bounty hunter, putting herself in constant danger for the health of her beloved pug, Archibald. It isn’t what she prefers, but she does what has to be done.
